Articuno EX- Plasma Storm Card Review

Overview:
Today's Pokenon card review will be of Articuno EX from the Plasma Storm Series. Articuno EX is a basic water-type Pokemon with 170HP, a weakness to steel X2, a resistance to fighting -20, and a retreat cost of only one colorless energy. This Pokemon has no abilities, but has two moves. The one, requiring a water energy and two colorless energies is Blizzard which deals a total of 60 damage to your opponent's active pokemon, and 10 more damage to each of the opponent's benched Pokemon. The second is Frost Prison, which deals 80 damage, but can also paralyze the enemy if it has a Plasma Energy attached.

Strategy:
Articuno EX is a pretty good card in my opinion. Fist off, it's a basic Pokemon which can be easily played. Second, its moves give you upper hand with the damage that it deals. This card is great for any pair up, especially if you have a fire/water deck. Blizzard only requires one water energy, so it is pretty easy to play. And Frost Prison is just an extra water energy. Articuno is one of the cards you'll want to power up on your bench, because it does take a few energies to use it. It's coin flip to paralyze will really help you if you're down by a couple of prizes. Don't even get me started on its retreat only being at one colorless energy, which is probably one of the most helpful things to have in the game.

Rating:
I give this card a 4/5, and there are a few reasons why. First off its high HP really helps you out if you're not powered up all of the way. Articuno EX's moves do a pretty good amount of damage, even though I feel like  blizzard takes a bit too many energies considering it only does 60 damage. On the other hand, I'm fine with Frost Prison and the damage it deals. And it has an amazing retreat cost, which you don't see very often on EX cards. Like any other EX this card, when knocked out, the opponent gets to take two prize cards. But this card is so playable and helpful I don't see that being a problem. The only bad part about this card in my opinion is its moves do take a lot of energies. So overall a really great card for gameplay, really playable.
